Amputation of the thigh, especially in the lower extremity, is one of the most severe injuries a veteran can endure. Whether caused by combat injuries, accidents, or other service-related conditions, the loss of a limb dramatically impacts the veteran’s mobility, quality of life, and ability to work. The VA offers specific disability ratings based on the level of amputation in the thigh.
